Blotter: Violating an Order of Protection; Stuffing Clothes in a Backpack

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 25

Violating an Order of Protection

Steven J. Vercell, 42, of the 1300 block of North 11th Avenue in Melrose Park, was arrested around 11:30 p.m. near his home on a warrant out of the Tinley Park Police Department for violating an order of protection. 

Warrant Arrest

James J. Churchill, 27, of the 17400 block of Center Avenue in East Hazel Crest, was arrested around 11:40 p.m. at an unspecified location on a warrant.

MONDAY, JAN. 23

Stuffing Clothes in a Backpack

Tammy Kocsak, 34, of the 17900 block of 66th Court in Tinley Park, was charged around 6:45 p.m. with retail theft. Security at a store in the 17600 block of Halsted Street in Homewood told police that Kocsak left without paying for clothing totaling $202 hidden in her backpack. She was stopped outside the store, police said.
