Chief Mike O'Connell's Wake and Funeral Plans, Plus Street Closures and Parking Maps
The village is expecting a mass outpouring to say good-bye to the police chief.
The wake and funeral for Tinley Park Police Chief Mike O'Connell, who died Wednesday of complications following heart surgery, will be held Sunday and Monday, respectively.
Due to the expected outpouring of mourners for O'Connell, the village of Tinley Park has announced street closures and alternate parking routes during the visitation and funeral.

FUNERAL AND VISITATION
A visitation is scheduled from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at Brady-Gill Funeral Home, 16600 S. Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park. A funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, May 16, at St. Stephen Deacon and Martyr Church, 17500 84th Ave., Tinley Park.

STREET CLOSURES AND ALTERNATE PARKING
Between 1:30 and 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, one southbound lane of Oak Park Avenue will be closed between 167th Street and Brementowne Drive. Between 8 and 11 a.m. on Monday, May 16, both southbound lanes of Oak Park Avenue will be closed between 167th and Brementowne Drive.
Also, from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 84th Avenue will be closed to traffic from 175th Street to 179th Street.
Traffic may also be disrupted on Monday morning by a lengthy procession of vehicles from the funeral home to St. Stephen Church, 17500 84th Avenue. The procession will go south on Oak Park Avenue, west on 183rd Street past the Tinley Park Police Department, north on 80th Avenue, west on 179th Street, and north on 84th Avenue to the church.
The procession will pass a special tribute to Chief O’Connell at the Police Department and Fire Training Tower.
