Commuters to Enjoy Improved 80th Avenue Metra Station in March

There's an end in sight for the first phase of construction at Tinley Park's 80th Avenue Metra station.

There's a light at the end of the tunnel for commuters anxiously awaiting the completion of the new and improved 80th Avenue Metra station.

Tinley Park announced last week that it will open the new site Thursday, March 22. The opening will mark the end of the project’s first phase. The second phase will be the construction of a pedestrian underpass, which is expected to be completed by late summer and impact parking availability in both the north and south lots.

In the meantime, the village is still seeking proposals from vendors interested in operating the new station’s Internet café.

Those interested in becoming the cafe vendor can register to download the village's Request for Proposals off the village's website. A copy is also available at Village Hall, 16250 S. Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park.

The deadline for proposal submissions is 10 a.m. Monday, March 5. For more information, email marketing director Donna Framke or call her at 708-444-5045.
