DUI, Marijuana Arrest, Shoplifting, and More
Tinley Park Police reports, Aug. 16-17.
FRIDAY, AUG. 17
After receiving a tip regarding a possible intoxicated driver on Oak Park Avenue, police caught up with Damon E. Dehaan, 36, of the 17300 block of South 69th Avenue in Tinley Park. They said Dehaan was swerving within his lane, crossed the lane line one time and then turned west onto 177th Street heading west in the eastbound lane. Damon reportedly asked police at least 10 times why he had been pulled over and had bloodshot eyes and "thick-tongued" speech.
He told police he drank one beer after work, according to the report. Dehaan refused to perform field sobriety tests and stumbled out of his vehicle before being taken into custody, according to the report. He was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane use and driving in the wrong lane.
Dustin R. Mathews, 28, of the 14700 block of Kilpatrick in Midlothian, was arrested around 12:30 p.m. on a warrant out of the Tinley Park Police Department for possession of marijuana. His bail was set at $5,000.
Abbey N. Spreng, 20, of the 6500 block of Glenview Road in Tinley Park was arrested around 3 p.m. at the Kmart in the 16300 block of South Harlem Avenue and charged with retail theft. Police said she slipped cat food, a book, a hair dye kit, and two bottles of soap into her purse at the store and left without paying for the items.
Jose Gutierrez, 25, of the 9800 block of South Tripp in Oak Lawn, was arrested around 9 p.m. at the Tinley Park Police Department, 7850 W. 183rd St., Tinley Park on a warrant.
THURSDAY, AUG. 16
Items Stolen From LA Fitness Lockers
A 25-year-old man who was at LA Fitness on Convention Center Drive in Tinley Park said that he finished his work out around 5:20 p.m. and found several items missing from his locker. Two credit cards, a driver's license, three store membership cards, a blood type card, a GNC savings card and $96 cash were stolen, police said. The lock on his locker had been cut off, accordion got the report.
A 56-year-old man had his lock cut off a locker during the same time frame—4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. The man said his Margaritaville T-shirt, Dockers shorts containing about $40, one white sock and white Jockey underwear were missing. All that remained inside the locker was one white sock and a belt, according to the report.
