Emergency Responders Take it to Downtown Tinley
Tinley Park first responders, Emergency Management Agency workers and public works employees are going all out Tuesday to fight crime.
Fire engines, squad cars and Emergency Management Agency vehicles will flock to downtown Tinley Park Tuesday night. But the vehicles and responders won't technically be on official business.
National Night Out, America's Night Out Against Crime, moves this year to Zabrocki Plaza near 173rd Street and Oak Park Avenue. Last year, the event was in the Kmart parking lot off Harlem Avenue. Tuesday's festivities kick off at 5 p.m. and last through 9 p.m.

"We use it to bring forth all the positive services and what the police department has to offer," Dina Navas, who works for the Tinley Park Police Department's crime prevention unit, said last week. "It's to educate our parents and to educate our kids."
The family-friendly event gives visitors the opportunity to meet and greet police officers, Tinley's K-9, Thor, firefighters, public works employees and more. Family Martial Arts students will present during the night along with the Ronald McDonald Go Active group and the David Fleming Juggling Variety Show.
A local favorite, Dotsie the Clown, will be on hand for face painting, Navas said.
For more information about the event, see the listing on our community calendar.

There's not already enough going on in Downtown Tinley on Tuesday nights? How about a different night, or a location that's already so incredibly crowded. Where are citizens supposed to park? It's already a zoo down there on Tuesdays...we purposely stay away! Sorry to miss a great event.

Jeeez...sorry but I'm pretty sure the heading above asks if readers are planning on attending. And last I checked, we still do have a free country and the ability to express our thoughts.
