WEDNESDAY, AUG. 10
Phone Stolen from DeVry Student
After reviewing a test with an instructor at DeVry University, 18624 Westercreek Drive, a student noticed that her phone was missing. The woman, a Lockport resident, told police and school security that she believed a classmate may have taken the cell phone. She called her father, who activated the GPS on the phone, and it was traced to Joliet. The student told police she believed one of her classmates lives in Joliet.
TUESDAY, AUG. 9
Items Missing from Unlocked Cars
Two vehicles were burglarized while parked in a residential driveway in the 18000 block of Semmler Court sometime between 11 p.m. on Aug. 8 and 9 a.m. on Aug. 9, according to a police report. A husband and wife reported that their cars were both unlocked overnight. When the husband left for work in the morning, he noticed his Sirius satellite radio was missing, along with the power cord and radio holder, according to the report. His wife told police that her car's driver's side door was ajar and her Nextel cell phone was missing, along with the power charger. Nothing else was reported missing from the vehicles, and neighbors reported they did not notice anything suspicious.
MONDAY, AUG. 8
Police Don't Take Kindly to Tinley Man Leaving Dog in Car
Kyle A. Southwick, 59, of the 17200 block of South 68th Court, was charged with cruelty to animals after leaving his dog locked in a car in a public parking lot in the 20500 block of LaGrange Road. Police responded to a call from someone who saw the dog in the car.
FRIDAY, AUG. 5
Tinley Woman Charged with Pot Possession
Ashley E. French, 22, of the 17300 block of 64th Court, was charged with possession of marijuana and driving with an expired license and no insurance after being pulled over in the 11100 block of Lincoln Highway. She also was served on an outstanding warrant in Livingston County.
