Police: Intoxicated Woman Gets Stuck on Train Tracks
An officer led vehicle passengers to safety over the weekend when their car became stuck on a local railway at the hands of a drunken driver, the report said.
Tinley Park police said they arrested a Plainfield woman over the weekend after they found her behind the wheel of her idle car, which was stuck on the train tracks along 68th Court.
Police met Rachel E. Mizwicki, 20, of the 24200 block of Cropland Drive in Plainfield, around 2:20 a.m. Saturday. Her four-door Oldsmobile was stopped on the railroad tracks in the 17300 block of 68th Court in Tinley Park, according to the report.
"Rachel advised that she was not familiar with the area and turned the wrong way out of the parking lot," the report said. " ... She did not realize she was driving on the railroad tracks until her vehicle became stuck."
The responding officer notified Metra about the vehicle, but still guided Mizwicki and her passengers—the report didn't say how many—to safety when a train came rumbling down the tracks.
The locomotive missed Mizwicki's car, according to the report, and a Metra officer helped arrange for it to be towed. He issued her citations for illegally stopping on the railway and trespassing to a railway, the report said.
Mizwicki was taken to the Tinley Park Police Department where she reportedly failed field sobriety tests and blew a .117 on the Breathalyzer. Asked if she was drunk she told police, "No. Well, maybe a little," the report said.
She was charged with unlawful access to a restricted roadway, driving without a driver's license in her possession, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08.

Where had the 20 year old been drinking at? This is a question that needs to be addressed!

The report didn't say. Nor did it mention whether others in the car were underage or intoxicated. She's lucky to be alive.

DUIs are an epidemic in our area,The people that are not drinking responsibly have no idea or just don't care, how they are endangering themselves and others.
Thank God these young kids avoided a terrible tragedy.

The twenty year old probably had a fake ID. A lot of people had them when I was in high school so they can't be that hard to come by.

Fake ID or not, bartenders are supposed to be held liable for overserving patrons. It doesn't sound like there is any backtracking w/DUI's to issue warnings, if not tickets, to bars that regularly overserve the young and old.
