South Suburban Fish Frys: Where Can We Find Them?

If your Catholic church or other group is operating one this year, here's how you can let us know.

We're eager to get the word out to our readers about where they can find fish frys this Lenten season. If your Catholic church or other group is operating one this year, please fill out this form with the details.

We'll compile a list of frys that we get and make sure that information is available to our readers throughout the season.

An Associated Press article published in USA Today called fish frys "a timeworn Catholic tradition that provides a safe haven from divides that have long roiled the U.S. church, a place where traditionalist Catholics, progressive Catholics and everyone in between can sit peacefully at the same plastic tablecloth."

If you're looking at this on a mobile device, please come back and visit when you're at a computer so you can see and fill out the form.

One of the best fish frys around our area is at Lincoln Way North High School, sponsored by the music department. It takes place most Fridays from now until Easter. They use a "secret" batter on the fish and it's just delicious! That combined with music from any of the talented bands or chorus makes for a great family night out!

What time? Where do we look to see the "most Fridays" schedule?

If you have never been to the Summit VFW for the Friday Fish Fry you truly are missing out. It's run year round and is a traffic problem come dinner time on a Friday night. Make sure you check the specials before you order. You never know what might be on them.

We found the fish fry at the VFW post in Markham (at 159th Street just west of Kedzie Avenue) to be very good. The food was excellent and cooked to order. The servers were super friendly, and when you leave you will have made friends with someone. I especially liked the fact that they used "real" plates to serve the food on. The catfish was excellent!!
