Trinity Students Put a Twist on the Tale of King David

Elementary students at Trinity Lutheran share a story this week of bravery, honor and challenges. Plan to see them showcase their talents this Friday night at the school, where the public is invited to join in the audience.

As 9-year-old Gunnar Bettenhausen called his "men" to the stage this week, he commanded the attention of an entire auditorium.

The young Trinity Lutheran student and Tinley Park resident recently opened the school's operetta showing of the life of David slaying Goliath in a show entitled The Rock Slinger and His Greatest Hit.

The event showcases Trinity's students' innumerable song, dance and humor talents under the direction of Amy Holcomb. Solos by Joel Melidona and Madeline Regan rivaled performances of young stars on the Disney Channel. The upbeat show reveals David's obstacles as a young man fighting a giant.

Residents are invited to experience the show themselves This Friday, April 27 at 7 p.m., when these primary grade students will again take the stage at Trinity Lutheran.
