Two Girls Rescued from Tinley Pond

Tinley Park police pulled two girls from a pond after they fell through thin ice. The girls are being treated at an area hospital.

Two girls are being treated at an area hospital after they were rescued from a pond near Edgewater Walk apartments just before 5 p.m., according to Pat Carr, director of emergency management and 911 communications.

Three Tinley Park police officers jumped to action and dove in after the girls. Neighbors reported the girls in the pond near Lakewood Drive south of 167th Street, and it's estimated they were in the water for five to 10 minutes, Carr said.

They are in good condition and were transported to South Suburban Hospital, where they are recovering.
