Woman Dead in Possible Domestic Incident (Updated)

An individual is in custody as Tinley Park Police are investigating the death of a woman in the Brookside Glen subdivision. The incident poses no danger to the community, police say.

One woman is dead and a person is in custody Wednesday in what was described as "a domestic case" in the Brookside Glen neighborhood.

"Police are stressing that the incident does not pose a danger to the community," a village press release stated.

Tinley Park Police running a death investigation at a house in the 19700 block of Silverside Drive after responded to a call at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17., the release stated.

The body of the woman was found in a neighbor's yard, according to a Sun-Times Media report. The names of woman and the man in custody have not been released.

Cars slowed down as they approached two houses near the intersection of Silverside and Brookside Glen Drive, surrounded by yellow crime scene tape. For many neighborhood residents who were returning home from work, this was the first indication that something horrible had happened.

Others, however, were at home while the events unfolded, even if they weren't aware of it.

"I didn't hear anything, just saw the neighbor walk down and say something had happened," said a resident who lived four houses down from the crime scene on Brookside Glen Drive. He did not wish to be identified.

A police officer later came to his door and told him they were investigating a crime, but that there was no danger, the resident said, adding he also received an autocall from the village.

For much of the day, authorities roped off the streets along Silverside Drive and Brookside Glen Drive as they investigate a crime scene that Mayor Ed Zabrocki called "a domestic case." A Suburban Cook County mobile command center was also on the scene.

women(& men too!) we must learn to become stronger and get out of relationships when things are not well! DO NOT stand for abuse in any circumstance! Get help as soon as necessary to remove yourself from a dangerous situation. don't think "it will get better!" Most times it doesn't!
This needs to END!!

Tinley Park is no more dangerous than any of the surrounding southland communities and in many cases much safer. If you pay attention to the police blotter, there are crimes in every area (i.e., the home invasion in Orland last year, the string of burglaries during the daytime in Frankfort). The TP crimes are more "high profile", especially the Lane Bryant tragedy which is unsolved to this day, but I don't feel any less safe living in TP than I did when I first moved here.

BEAV,I agree somewhat with your comment, but as you see by other comments, excuses,TP is not as bad as other towns,I say Hooey it is,reminds me of all the mass shootings recently and the violence in Chicago and other major US cities, you got a president who made no effort except the Arizona shootings because a Poly was involved and then blamed the other side for being the problem. Now we had the CT. shooting and he wants to turn the country upside down. When crime starts popping up in a faster pace you can;t just say its happening all over or TP is still safe, or not hurting others feelings or playing politics, you are not smelling the coffee, because 20yrs ago what we are seeing now was not present at this alarming rate, just like Frank Williams put it crime is here!!

Readers:

I'm sorry Jon's comments stayed on the site for as long as they did. They have been deleted, and his account has been suspended.

I have no patience for those kind of remarks, especially in light of what has happened today. They will not be tolerated, nor will I suffer those ignorant enough to post them.

I deleted you comment because of the part you directed at Jon. That was uncalled for.

These are sad days for our Tinley Park community. It seems more and more crime, especially the violent kind, is finding its way inside our borders. It feels like the decline can almost be tracked back to the Lane Bryant murders. Cigarette stores, convenience stores, mini marts, all being subject to robberies, some at the end of a gun. Vandalism, shootings, delinquency and domestic violence seem to be on the upswing. It's disheartening. Even in my small subdivision near 159th & 80th Ave. the the tone has changed from a family setting to out of control kids and young adults with no guidance or respect for the property of others. Cops need to be called to tone down parties, stop groups from urinating on neighbors' lawns and the steady beat of blaring boomboxes and speeding cars is nerve racking. This past summer we had a kid driving nearly 75 mph on a 20 mph side street crash into a tree. The young male driver was belligerent, cocky and unrepentant when police arrived. I raised two kids in this town, but I'm thinking it's time to leave.

Vandalism, shootings, delinquency and domestic violence, I think, can be attributed to the bad economy we are in.

Lack of patenting is key now a days. It's a shame how parents coddle their children and enable them. No one gets in trouble or held responsible for their actions. It's very hard as a parent that is doing this. My kids ask me why so in so can do something but they can't. If I as a parent see another kid doing something dangerous or not appropriate and I say something to them I get the attitude from that kid and their parent. It's a shame. Parent your children. Teach them the right from wrong. Correct them and punish them for the way they speak to adults and others. The lack of respect is horrifying. I weep for the future. Wake up parents. Wake up and take responsibility for what is your problem

Stupid auto correct. Parenting. Not patenting

Thank you Joe for removing that post. I have raised my two boys in Tinley as well Frank. I hope you do not choose to leave this beautiful village. I'm proud to say that I live here. No matter where we go or what we do, we all have to be on the look out for the bad guys!! There are definitely a lot of lost souls out there! Stay strong!

The details of this homicide are still sketchy, but I'm really not sure what a domestic dispute/homicide, or yesterday's manhunt for a convict escapee, have to do with "parenting nowadays". I'm not saying your points aren't valid, I'm just not following how these comments relate to this story.

Tp Pete, I was referring to Franks comments about children. I still believe that the social media available to everyone is a big reason why it seems crime is rampant. Breaking news messages on my phone, alerts from the village, etc. I knew about the escaped convicts before our local FBI office in Orland knew! Lol crime has always been there, it's just being thrown in our face now daily!

I cannot believe that now nearly 12 hours after the body has been discovered, police have yet to update the public. Sure, a person of interest is in custody, but are we certain he had anything to do with it?

With as crazy as things have been in the world lately with CT shootings, Oak Forest murder yesterday, and now Tinley Park today, all in addition to a slew of threats, and bank robbers being on the lose sighted in Tinley Park, I would really have hoped that we would be given at least periodic updates to ease our minds. I've been sitting at home with my gun two feet away all night and jumping up with each noise I hear from the outside.

Please keep your gun from your feet. You react risk of self injury / harm before more than you are close to catching the bad guy.

I knew people that knew her. This has been an on going thing. We as a society should have help her leave her husband along time ago. Shame on us, tinley park and will county. God be with the children. They have lost both their parents now.... Shame on us all....

Lisa, sadly there is nothing the Village or anyone could do. People in her situation don't listen to people trying to help. They don't press charges and tie up law enforcement's hands. Similar to drug addicts, you can only help as much as they themselves are willing to accept it. THEY have to choose to USE the help. I have no doubt that she was offered the help. ESPECIALLY since EMS and Police were called there so often. (allegedly. Have no facts to this point. Just what neighbors have pointed out)

The woman had children. Sorry, but the priority is informing them directly not updating you on the story. They already said there's no threat to the community and the last thing we need is for the kids to find out via twitter, instagram or Facebook.

I don't see the Link between President Obama and a TP woman killed in her home as suggested by Harry Callaghan. Am I missing something? You don't have to listen to sensible conversations around guns, you can stock pile them all you want. But remember the stats, you and yours stand a greater chance of being armed with weapons you possess than meeting harm against an enemy or would be assailant
