ever since tinley park was named "the best place to raise your family" the town has been cursed. months after...lane bryant murders, some time later, ashford house, drive by shootings, manhunts.....national news stuff. oh well, just an observation. i know crime was here and always will be, just like any other town i guess.

These are sad days for our Tinley Park community. It seems more and more crime, especially the violent kind, is finding its way inside our borders. It feels like the decline can almost be tracked back to the Lane Bryant murders. Cigarette stores, convenience stores, mini marts, all being subject to robberies, some at the end of a gun. Vandalism, shootings, delinquency and domestic violence seem to be on the upswing. It's disheartening. Even in my small subdivision near 159th & 80th Ave. the the tone has changed from a family setting to out of control kids and young adults with no guidance or respect for the property of others. Cops need to be called to tone down parties, stop groups from urinating on neighbors' lawns and the steady beat of blaring boomboxes and speeding cars is nerve racking. This past summer we had a kid driving nearly 75 mph on a 20 mph side street crash into a tree. The young male driver was belligerent, cocky and unrepentant when police arrived. I raised two kids in this town, but I'm thinking it's time to leave.

Lack of patenting is key now a days. It's a shame how parents coddle their children and enable them. No one gets in trouble or held responsible for their actions. It's very hard as a parent that is doing this. My kids ask me why so in so can do something but they can't. If I as a parent see another kid doing something dangerous or not appropriate and I say something to them I get the attitude from that kid and their parent. It's a shame. Parent your children. Teach them the right from wrong. Correct them and punish them for the way they speak to adults and others. The lack of respect is horrifying. I weep for the future. Wake up parents. Wake up and take responsibility for what is your problem

Thank you Joe for removing that post. I have raised my two boys in Tinley as well Frank. I hope you do not choose to leave this beautiful village. I'm proud to say that I live here. The details of this homicide are still sketchy, but I'm really not sure what a domestic dispute/homicide, or yesterday's manhunt for a convict escapee, have to do with "parenting nowadays". I'm not saying your points aren't valid, I'm just not following how these comments relate to this story.

Tp Pete, I was referring to Franks comments about children. I still believe that the social media available to everyone is a big reason why it seems crime is rampant. Breaking news messages on my phone, alerts from the village, etc. I knew about the escaped convicts before our local FBI office in Orland knew! Lol crime has always been there, it's just being thrown in our face now daily!

I cannot believe that now nearly 12 hours after the body has been discovered, police have yet to update the public. Sure, a person of interest is in custody, but are we certain he had anything to do with it?

With as crazy as things have been in the world lately with CT shootings, Oak Forest murder yesterday, and now Tinley Park today, all in addition to a slew of threats, and bank robbers being on the lose sighted in Tinley Park, I would really have hoped that we would be given at least periodic updates to ease our minds. I've been sitting at home with my gun two feet away all night and jumping up with each noise I hear from the outside.
