TINLEY WISH.......

For over 10 years, my husband and I and our small Painting business have gladly contributed to 'TINLEY WISH' every year.  I even wrote a letter to Tinley Wish about a sick little boy in Tinley Park, Cody, and Tinley Wish made their house one of their stops! What a wonderful day that was for that family... and Cody!

While paying bills yesterday, I realized that we have not gotten our 2 letter from Tinley Wish for requested donations.... ?  If anyone knows what has happened to Tiinley Wish, please write back to me.  I called the non-emergency police number and inquired, but the officer told me to call the village hall tomorrow.  Normally by this time the donations are in and the helpers (like me) are wrapping the gifts in the next week or so, getting ready for the big day. I hope someone out there in Tinley Park can write back to me today....

Thanks,

Summer

I am glad to hear that Tinley Wish is still up and running and helping families in Tinley Park. I am hurt that I did not get the donation letters.... We generally get one for the family and one for the business. Ironic that we didn't even get one letter! I guess the couple of thousand dollars over the years is not needed from us anymore..........

At work today, I asked the Grandmother of 'Cody' if she received the donation letter from Tinley Wish yet and she had NOT received her letter either..... What has happened that the loyal people who gave to and received from are not receiving notice from Tinley Wish 2013? I know too well that the economy sucks, but people still pull together for this long time village gift to needing (not needy) people and children. This saddens me that the village police and fire department have forgotten those who have given, wrapped gifts, hosted a family (been on the receiving side), got the chills when the fire trucks and police cars come down the street with sirens blaring. I will never forget the first time I really noticed Tinley Wish. It was the Saturday before Christmas 2000. I was at the house that I was born in 1952, Forestview drive, Ridgeland on the east, They were going to the home that the mother had just passed away after giving birth to twins (?). My Mom had just died in our house in Parkside 3 weeks prior and I heard the sirens. I opened up her family room windows and waved and yelled and cried and told myself I was going to be a part of that next year. And 2001, I joined in on the giving and wrapping and even got a chance to ride in one of the squad cars to deliver the gifts for several years.
Joe Vince, would you please find out why the people that have stayed true to this cause has been thrown to the side? It sounds crazy to have to beg to donate....does't it?

Summer, since TInley Wish seems to be a cause near and dear to your heart, perhaps you could see this (missing letter) as an opportunity to become more involved with the organization. Perhaps they need more hands on deck. I don't know myself but it clearly seems to be bothering you from the number and length of comments that you have left. It might be a tug at your heart for a very good cause. Please don't let being overlooked for whatever reason turn you away.

I agree with Lisa, Summer. Don't let the lack of a donation request stop you from contributing to this very worthwhile program. My backyard backed up to Oak Park Avenue around 164th Street and each year I looked forward to the day of Tinley Wish distributing gifts. The 'parade' police and fire department vehicles with sirens blaring would bring tears to my eyes every time! The idea of friends of Tinley Wish, like Summer, giving cash or gifts to the needy of Tinley Park is what makes Tinley Park shine. Keep on giving - perhaps the cost of mailing became prohibitive and the program may be depending on repeat donations from good people like us who donate to Tinley Wish every year. Keep up the good work!!

There was a problem with the printing of the letters this year and the some of the letters did not get printed. Since so many letters go out, it wasn't noticed until it was too late. There was no intent to snub or exlude anyone and we apologize for the confusion. You can also visit Tinleywish.org or like us on Facebook now. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Tinley Wish.
