Navy Will be Workin' on Its Night Moves This Week

U.S. Navy Finishes Training Drills at Closed Mental Health Center

Starting Monday, the second go-around of federal training drills—this time, involving the U.S. Navy—finishes this week on the grounds of the closed Tinley Park Mental Health Center.

This session will include helicopter drills, according to the village. Unlike April's drills, however, the village has set up "quiet hours" between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. Noise from military helicopters flying overhead, as well as explosions from "building breaching" drills, frightened and angered some Tinley Park residents, who said they were happening too late at night.

Early Bird Flick—Impossible: The Tinley Park Public Library continues its film series. This week's features stars Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor in the story of a family caught in the horror of a tsunami. Showtimes are 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the library.

TUESDAY, JULY 23

THURSDAY, JULY 25
Concerts In The Park—Scribble Monster: The Tinley Park-Park District's concert series continues with this award-winning musical group that blends traditional children's music, improvisational comedy and power pop to concerts. The show is at 7 p.m. at the eastside Concert Shell of the Tony Bettenhausen Recreation Center.
