Deadline Looms to Get Tickets for Gov. Quinn Lunch at Senior Center


The first deadline for tickets for an Aug. 23 lunch event to listen to Gov. Pat Quinn speak and sign bills into law at the Bremen Township Senior Center in Oak Forest is Friday, Aug. 16. Seniors age 60 and older will be served a barbecue lunch with a requested $4 donation. Tickets can be picked up at the senior center, 15350 Oak Park Ave. If you can't get there today, the final deadline is by noon on Monday, Aug. 19. Find out more details.

What Else to Watch for Friday


  • Raffle to Help Hurt Dog: PAWS of Tinley Park will be the site for a special raffle to help pay for medical bills for the owner of a former shelter dog that was injured after an attack by another dog. The raffle drawing will be at 2 p.m. at PAWS, 8301 W. 191st St.
  • Cook County State's Attorney Speaks at Luncheon: Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez will talk at the Abby Foundation's 28th annual Women Together Luncheon at the Tinley Park Convention Center. The event begins at 9 a.m., with the luncheon set for noon. Find out more details.
