Cobras High School Hockey Club Fall Season Open Evaluations August 29 and 30

Oak Lawn, IL, August 22, 2013 – With the success of our Black Hawks, ice hockey excitement is taking Chicagoland like an ice storm. To give students in Southwest Suburban Chicago the chance skate, the Cobra High School Hockey Club, newly sponsored by Aurelio’s Pizza, will hold team placement open evaluations for the 2013/2014 Fall season. Evaluations are August 29 and 30 at the Oak Lawn Ice Arena with delicious, hot Aurelio’s pizza served afterward.

What:                   Open evaluations for Fall team placement for male and female students from Andrew, Oak Forest, Tinley Park, HL Richards, Evergreen Park, Stagg, AB Shepard and Oak Lawn High Schools

 

When:                 Thursday, August 29

                                7 pm – 8:30 pm

Friday, August 30

                                6:15 pm – 7:45 pm

Details:                Evaluations are open for all high school students from freshmen through seniors at Andrew, Oak Forest, Tinley Park, HL Richards, Evergreen Park, Stagg, AB Shepard and Oak Lawn High Schools. No experience is necessary and every student wishing to play will be evaluated for team placement on the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams based his/her skill on the ice and grade level to determine where the student will have the best experience and chance to succeed. For evaluations, full gear is required and locker rooms are available. Forms necessary for participation are online at http://www.cobrashockey.org/ and should be filled out in advance if possible. Fees for the Fall season are between $3,300 and $3,800 and do not include equipment. Financial assistance is available for those students who qualify.

 

The season begins September 1 and runs through roughly the end of March with weekly games, in addition to Holiday tournaments (35-45 games in all). Skaters will be on the ice for a minimum three practices per week with an off-ice practice of no less than every other week.

 

New this season, Aurelio’s Pizza just signed on as a Club sponsor. The Cobras are actively seeking additional sponsorships from area businesses to help fund club and team expenses, scholarships and financial aid.

About the Cobras: The Cobras High School Hockey Club, part of the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois and USA Hockey, is a premier organization for the development and promotion of competitive youth amateur hockey in the Southwest Suburban Chicago metropolitan area. We are a combination team representing eight high schools in our region. It is the goal of the Cobras High School Hockey Club to provide high school students the opportunity to participate in the sport of ice hockey.
