HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR, DR. ALEXANDER WHITE TO LECTURE AT SSC

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL–Dr. Alexander White, Holocaust survivor and member of "Schindler's List," will speak at South Suburban College on Thursday, April 10th at 12 noon in the Performing Arts Center.  Dr. White has also authored a book of his memoirs titled, Be a Mensch: A Legacy of the Holocaust, which will be available for purchase following his lecture.

Alexander Bialylwos-White (Weiss) was born in June 1923 in the shtetl of Krosno, in Galicia (an area in Poland).  Most of Dr. White's family was killed following the Nazi invasion of Poland in 1939.  Of the 34 members of his extended family, only Dr. White and two of his cousins survived.

After living through the liquidation of the Krosno Ghetto, Dr. White spent a year in the Luftwaffe Labor Camp and six months in the concentration camp at Krakow-Plassow before surviving the last months at Oskar Schindler's camp in Bruennlitz, Sudetenland. The latter camp was the subject of Steven Spielberg's film, "Schindler's List."
