SD 228 Institute Aligns Learning Principles and Teaching Practices of Improvement Plan

The Bremen High School District 228 Staff Development Committee presented its Institute for Best Practices to the entire District 228 staff at its October Institute.  The theme of the institute was, “Using Feedback to Advance Learning.”  Applications to present workshop sessions were submitted in early spring and reflected many aspects of Teaching & Learning and Student Services.  The Institute sessions were aligned to the D228 Learning Principles and Teaching Practices of the District’s Improvement Plan.

The 47 workshop sessions covered a wide variety of initiatives, such as reading and literacy, student-led IEPs, understanding the needs of at-risk students, and more.  In addition, all sessions were aligned with the components of the Danielson Framework for Teaching/Professional Practice.

“The format of our fall institute actually changed about four years ago so that staff members could teach each other in their areas of expertise.  It has been a huge success and I couldn’t be prouder of the D228 staff and administration.  Dr. Williams and the Staff Development Committee did an outstanding job in bringing this opportunity to our staff,” said Superintendent Bill Kendall.
