SOUTH SUBURBAN COLLEGE AND STAR TRUCK DRIVING SCHOOL TO HOST OPEN HOUSE FOR FAST TRACK TRUCK DRIVER TRAINING PROGRAM

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL–South Suburban College (SSC) and STAR Truck Driving School are celebrating their five year partnership with a Truck Driving School Open House on Monday, September 9th from 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.  The Open House will take place in STAR’s Office at the college’s Main Campus, Room 1362.  SSC and STAR are providing career opportunities in truck driving to local residents who are looking for a career change.  The collaboration has now prepared 392 students and counting for rewarding careers since 2008 through this fast track program.

This special accelerated course provides an emphasis on local pickup and delivery operations, and is designed to provide comprehensive training in all facets of safe, defensive driving in demanding local traffic conditions.  Students train in a wide variety of local traffic environments with an emphasis on attaining superior backing skills.  Students will need a D.O.T. Physical, a driving record from the Secretary of State, and must submit to a drug screening to get started in the program.

Class sections take place at our Main Campus in South Holland, Illinois, and are usually limited to around 10 students each so that everyone will get the hands-on attention that is needed to succeed in the program and on the certification exams.  Graduates of the program are very well prepared for the certification testing.  Equally important to students is the attention devoted to assisting graduates with finding jobs in trucking that will provide secure futures for themselves and their families. The skills developed at STAR will provide for a lifetime of earnings potential in the high demand field of transportation.  STAR has placed graduates in jobs with hundreds of trucking companies locally and nationally.

Star Truck Driving School offers a complete training program in four to six-week courses from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. No weekend courses are offered, but part-time hours may be available through customized flexible scheduling programs.  Classes include approximately forty hours of classroom instruction with the remainder of the time spent in a truck. The full program enables a student to acquire a permit, vehicle inspection (pre-trip), backing skills, and road test.  STAR supplies all insurance and vehicles which includes the truck for testing.  STAR Truck Driving School trains for Class A and B C.D.L.’s.  Class A permits drivers for a tractor/trailer combination vehicle and Class B permits drivers for a Straight Truck.

This Open House will provide attendees with an opportunity to find out about all of the opportunities available, course scheduling, and most importantly, to see the trucks.  Instructors will also be on hand to answer questions.  This event will be located in Room 1362, via entrance #10 at the south end of the Main Campus  at 15800 S.
