Successful Career Fair Held at Northwestern College in Bridgeview

[Bridgeview, IL]  On Thursday, May 15, Northwestern College’s Bridgeview Campus hosted its 2014 Career Fair for both its students and the community, and it was a resounding success! Nearly 247 job seekers attended the event, over 229 of which were Northwestern College students and alumni.  The event heralded twenty (20) employers and recruiters interested in filling positions for everything from paralegals, correctional officers, financial advisors, medical assistants, and bank tellers to nurses.

According to Amy Buoscio, Northwestern College’s Career Development & Alumni Relations Coordinator for the Bridgeview Campus, with the unemployment rate continuing to remain high, it is imperative that Northwestern College do everything it can to assist students in obtaining employment.  This week’s successful career fair demonstrated employers are interested in hiring, and that students are investing their efforts in order to obtain employment after earning a college degree.

Northwestern College opened its 2014 Career Fair to current students, alumni, and the general public, with all three categories participating.  Of the 247 in attendance, in addition to Northwestern College students and alumni, 18 job seekers from the general public took advantage of the opportunity and participated, a few less than had participated in 2013.

According to feedback obtained from the employers and recruiters who participated, they found the event to be well organized and reported that they had met several candidates that they intended to contact for future interviews.

The success of the Career Fair would not have been possible without the efforts of Northwestern College’s Career Development & Alumni Relations Coordinator Amy Buoscio, the Office of Career Development & Alumni Relations, and the many volunteers who assisted.

“A good education builds the foundation for a successful career,” commented Lawrence Schumacher, President of Northwestern College.  “We are excited to have provided connections for our students to so many prominent businesses in our Chicagoland area and are hopeful that these connections will lead to full time employment opportunities.  Northwestern College remains committed to assisting our students and graduates in obtaining employment in their fields of study.”
