Tinley Park HS BPA Students Attend Leadership Conference

Tinley Park High School students enrolled in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) program, recently joined other area students at the annual BPA Area Leadership Conference at Odyssey Country Club.  It started with a motivational speech by the keynote speaker from Everest College, followed by the announcement of each chapter president, including Tinley Park High School’s very own Alex Kohs.  Mrs. Laura Munoz, the BPA Coordinator for Tinley Park High School, was announced along with the Coordinators from the other area schools.  After the introductions, the students were broken into small groups to collaborate with students from other schools on a leadership activity.  Each group was handed a bag of random items, including paper plates, clay, popsicle sticks, rubber bands and balloons.  Using these items, the goal was to produce something that would symbolize accelerating one’s future, since this year’s National BPA Competition has been titled “Accelerate Your Future.”  The students were very creative, producing items such as airplanes and hot air balloons.  The event was wrapped up with the Hillcrest Torch Awards ceremony which celebrates the service component of BPA.  The Tinley Park High School BPA will be competing in upcoming events at Andrew High School on December 4 and at DeVry University in Tinley Park on December 6.
