Tinley Park HS "Dance Crew"

Not so long ago, high school students used to learn to square dance in order to fulfill the dance part of their Physical Education curriculum.  Those days are long gone at Tinley Park High School. PE teacher Mrs. Andrea Johnson introduced her students to dance by creating a competition similar to “America’s Best Dance Crew” on MTV.  The class was divided into groups and the students had four days to choreograph and practice a dance performance for Tinley Park’s Best Dance Crew.  Mrs. Johnson encouraged the groups to use teamwork, coordination and balance while preparing for the competition.  Each team danced in front of their classmates, as well as a panel of judges made up of teachers and administrators, who provided feedback to the teams.  It was obvious the students had fun while practicing modern dance moves.
