Wound Care Specialist Terrill Applewhite, M.D., Joins Ingalls Medical Staff

Ingalls Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that Terrill Applewhite, M.D., W.C.C., a board-certified wound care specialist and internal medicine physician, has joined its medical staff.

An expert in managing acute and chronic wounds, Dr. Applewhite uses a variety of treatment modalities within his practice, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy and the latest skin-graft techniques. He is a nationally recognized expert in his field and has helped developed wound care protocols in use today. As a member of the National Alliance of Wound Care, Dr. Applewhite is currently involved in developing the wound care-certifying exam for physicians.

Dr. Applewhite earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois, College of Medicine. After completion of his internal medicine residency at Cook County Hospital and a cardiology fellowship at Howard University Hospital, he began a career in cardiology and internal medicine in Decatur, Ala. When he returned to Illinois, he developed a hospitalist service for two hospitals in Kankakee and has served as medical director for nursing homes, hospice programs, and other facilities throughout Illinois and northwest Indiana. He has received many awards and distinctions, and participated in numerous research studies.

Dr. Applewhite is a member of the American College of Physicians, Society of Hospital Medicine, American Medical Association, American College of Physician Executives and American College of Hyperbaric Medicine.
