Still Remembering ... Haiti

It may have been a few years since the devasting earthquake in Port au Prince, Haiti but there still remains much work to be done. The initial first couple of years Robb Thompson Ministries, in partnership with Family Harvest Church sent mission teams to rebuild. 

The following couple of years, they have focused on another critical area of concern, teeth. After visiting several times, we realized most of the Haitian population had never been to the dentist, even for a simple clean. 

Robb Thompson Ministries has a network of several dentists and dental assistants and we encouraged them to take a trip. Patty Plante, director of Robb Thompson Ministries said, "it was tough to convince them at first to go to Haiti, but when we told them most of the people had never seen a dentist in their entire life, it hit them like a ton of bricks." 

This year a team of 8 will be heading to St. Marc, Haiti, May 4 - 11th. They will be cleaning and restoring as many teeth as possible. Last year, the highlight was when on of our doctors restored a womans front teeth, she couldn't stop smiling. 

This trip is also special because the team will be using a professional dental chair donated by partners of Robb Thompson Ministries. Last year Robb Thompson Ministries was given a dental chair for the trip but the shipping was so expensive. We asked donors to sponsor the shipping of the chair via Facebook and we received the total amount in less than 7 days. 

Our team is very excited to encourage the nation of Haiti.
