Re-Connect Summer Conference at Family Harvest Church

Tinley Park, IL (PRWEB) May 10, 2013 Re-Connect Summer Conference July 21st - 28th http://www.fhclife.org/NewHere/Events/CONNECT Want to be happier and live longer? Who doesn’t? According to a recent article in the Washington Times, having an active spiritual life is one of the best ways to accomplish this. The WashingtonTimes article, Churchgoing correlated to longevity, April 2006, reported that those who attend church regularly tend to live an average of 35% longer than those who do not. A Barna survey also shows that people who participate in faith-based communities are more optimistic, less stressed, and believe they are making a positive difference in the world. Yet, the number of Americans who identify as “unchurched” or “dechurched” has steadily increased over the past decade. Is there a way for people of faith to turn things around? Enter, Re-Connect Summer Conference at Family Harvest Church in Tinley Park, IL. Re-Connect is a week full of speakers, events and community; engaging humanity to Jesus Christ. This years speakers include: Rod Parsley, Cash Luna, O.S.A. Aiyemo, Robert Kayanja, Billy Burke and lead pastor of Family Harvest Church, Pastor Robb Thompson. We also will be featuring prayer by phone and a LIVE only online service. Prayer by phone is exciting because it allows anyone from around the world to pray collectively for an hour. We like to say, if you have a cell phone, you can pray. Our LIVE only online service is extremely fun as it allows many who are unable to drive to our church watch and correspond with us via chat and text messaging. The best part about our LIVE only online service is receiving prayer requests from all over the world and praying with them LIVE. In addition, our children’s team have put together a week (Free of charge) full of Knights in armor where kids discover the Bible like never before. But, it’s not just about building character in their lives, it’s also about them playing and enjoying their summer too. The conference also will host its annual golf outing during the week. “While I love attending the conference, it’s been such a great place to meet and hang with new and old friends,” said Justin Kane, Re-Connect event coordinator. The golf outing represents our fund raiser for many of the local and international community efforts of Family Harvest Church. Last year, they raised $1,000 and anticipate that number to double this year. Re-Connect Summer Conference is a collaborative effort with businesses and local churches. You can expect giveaways, discount codes and coupons which is a great benefit financially to Tinley Park and its surrounding communities. “I constantly read about new businesses opening up and we feel responsible to help those businesses become successful,” said Anthony Thompson, marketing director at Family Harvest Church. The heart and soul of a church is not simply to accrue members but to enhance the surrounding area. “Wherever Christ is, we see good in the Bible. That is what we expect to see in Tinley Park and it’s surrounding communities,” said Anthony Thompson. Family Harvest Church is celebrating its 30th year strong with the motto, love wins. Family Harvest is led by founders and pastors Robb and Linda Thompson. While the location of the church has changed a few times, the motto has remained consistent, love wins. Family Harvest Church and Tinley Park have cohesively worked together on many projects such as Adopt a Road, Community Clean Up and dissolving casino efforts.
