5 Reasons Why the Women's Expo in Tinley Park Matters

That's what Patch wanted to know about the weekend event at the Tinley Park Convention Center. Find out what a representative from the expo had to say.

In its second year coming to Tinley Park, the Women's Expo invites attendees to learn more about a variety of business exhibitors, as well as expand their awareness on women's health issues.

And it's about having a fun weekend, too.

Patch asked Sally Goss, the Women's Expo's media manager, for five reasons why the event is important and matters to women. Here's what she had to say.

1. It's a Day for You: We want women to come to the Women’s Expo for a day that centers exclusively on them. As women, we focus so much on other people and commitments outside ourselves. A day at the Women’s Expo is a day women can have for themselves.

2. A Chance to Try Something New: Women can ask exhibitors questions, see demonstrations and try samples in a friendly environment. The event features a variety of exhibitors, bringing merchandise and covering topics such as cooking demonstrations from Mrs. Dornberg’s Culinary Experience, to featuring wellness exhibitors like DentalWorks and Metro South Medical Center. You can even check out a new car with Mini of Tinley Park.

3. You Can Pamper Yourself: Enjoy complimentary manicures and hair styling from Paul Mitchell The School Tinley Park. See what’s new for spring with free make-up applications advice and samples from beauty exhibitors Mary Kay, Estee Lauder and the Avon Store. Unwind and rejuvenate when you try stress relief and relaxation sessions with BodySense, using the personal care supplier's hot and cold packs in zero gravity recliners. Or visit Massager Relief Specialists and experience their Mini Massager.

4. It's an Opportunity to Enjoy a Girls' Day Out: Spend quality time with friends as you browse the exhibits. Friends will have a great time catching up with one another while they indulge with tastings from Easley Winery or check out the beautiful confections from Fabulously Sweet Creations.

5. Hit a Lucky Streak: Attendees can try their luck with a free entry to fabulous prizes all weekend long. The Women’s Expo will have hourly drawings on both days, with chances to win prizes from Thirty-One Gifts, Paul Mitchell The School Tinley Park, Massager Relief Specialists, BodySense, Pangea Organics, Chicago Pearl Company, Mary Kay, Gigi Hill and Hunter-NuSport.

Each day also will have a grand-prize drawing, featuring a gift basket of jewelry from Lia Sophia and a gift of beauty products from Estee Lauder. These prizes are each valued at $500. The prizes culminate at the end of the weekend with a cruise, courtesy of Fox River Vacations.

The Women’s Expo is hosting a special fundraiser raffle, with proceeds going to the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer. There are several special prizes including Vera Bradley bags, cosmetics gift baskets and other donations from exhibitors. We are proud to incorporate important women’s health issues, such as breast cancer into the Women’s Expo. We hope by doing so we will be able to support the mission of raising awareness and funds for life-saving research.
