Baggies With Klan Fliers, Candy Canes Found in Tinley Park
Plastic bags with fliers from the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan were found over the weekend in the neighborhood between Harlem and Oak Park avenues, south of Hickory Street.
Apparently, the holiday season is an ideal time for hate groups to recruit.
Plastic bags containing fliers for the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan promoting a "neighborhood watch" were found in the neighborhood between Harlem and Oak Park avenues, south of Hickory Street. In some cases, the bags contained pebbles, marbles and/or candy canes.

A Patch reader saw the fliers Sunday, Dec. 22, while jogging in the 17500 block of 70th Court. Patch also found a flier Monday, Dec. 23, on Sayre Avenue, just north of 176th Street.
The flier states the following:
"You can sleep tonight knowing the Klan is awake! Are there troubles in your neighborhood? Contact the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan today!"
A phone number and website for the group also is listed.

Similar Klan fliers have been distributed in Oak Forest and New Lenox over the past few months. Those materials were posted by the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. Both organizations are listed as active Klan groups by the Southern Poverty Law Center, a civil rights nonprofit that monitors hate groups throughout the country.
