Grab & Go Kids Planner: Clover Hunts, Fleadhs and Parades Celebrate St. Pat's

The fleadh, an arts fest and a couple parades — pick and choose from this week's array of events.

TINLEY PARK 12TH ANNUAL IRISH PARADE
Where/When:
Parade steps off Sunday at 2 p.m. from at 181st Street and Oak Park Avenue and marches north down Oak Park to 172nd Street.
Why Go:
Who doesn’t love a parade? Entrants include the Blackbird School of Irish Dance, the Stockyard Kilty Band, marching bands, fire trucks and another 75 or so units. The parade lasts about 90 minutes. Best viewing area is 173rd Street and Oak Park Avenue. Public parking is available at the Metra station and on side streets along the parade route.
Pricing:
Can’t beat free, but food and drink are up to you.

OAK FOREST 2ND ANNUAL FLEADH
Where/When:
Festival takes place on Cicero Avenue from 151st to 159th streets Saturday starting at 8 a.m.
Why Go:
Everyone is Irish this time of year. This Irish Festival includes customer appreciation parties by businesses along Cicero from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., a 5K race at 8:30 a.m., an open bike ride from 10-11 a.m., a family parade at 11 a.m. Cicero will be closed from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Pricing:
Food and drink are on your dime, but parking and viewing of all the events are free.


Where/When:
Tinley Park's , Friday. Children ages 3 to 5 start the hunt at 4 p.m., ages 6 to 10 at 4:30 p.m. Event runs until 5 p.m.
Why Go:
This yearly park district event has kids hunting for special clovers, candy and trinkets. Prizes will be given to those children who find the special clovers. The first 150 children in each age group who come to the Clover Hunt will receive a treat bag.

Free, no registration required.

22ND ANNUAL SPRING ARTS & CRAFTS FESTIVAL
Where/When:
, Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go: The Carl Sandburg High School Music Boosters are holding their annual spring arts and crafts fair at the high school. It's open to all.
Pricing: $2.

Where/When: every day through March 17, 5:30 p.m. with the first dance show at 7 p.m.
Why Go: With dance school performances every night, exhibitions of both Ceili and Set dancing and traditional Irish music from the Irish Musicians Association, Ireland on Parade, also known as “Irish Week,” is part of the 10-day celebration at Gaelic Park in honor of Ireland’s patron saint, Patrick.
