Rescue Dog Learns New Tricks to Rescue Others in Need
A canine that had been adopted and returned to the PAWS of Tinley Park shelter multiple times because of separation anxiety will be taking on a new role as a service dog. Find out how.
For a while, Buggs was a return customer at PAWS of Tinley Park.
Because of his extreme separation anxiety, he had been adopted and brought back to the south suburban shelter by owners five times, according to an update on the animal shelter's Facebook page.
But thanks to the dedication—and creative thinking—from PAWS board member John Greenan and volunteer Meg Seth, Buggs received training and is part of Heartland Service Dogs, a nonprofit organization in Mokena that offers service dogs for adults and children with mobility and hearing impairments. It appears to be the perfect fit for a canine who requires companionship.
Find out how you can help raise funds to purchase a training harness for Buggs!
Go to the PAWS Facebook page to find out more about Buggs and wish him well in his new "career." Plus, PAWS will be holding a special Yappy Hour from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at Jenny's Steakhouse on 191st Street in Mokena. You can have dinner with your dog on the outdoor patio. Sharing food is up to you. Proceeds benefit PAWS. Call 708-479-6873 for more info.
