This Week's Pets: A Trio of Irresistible Mountain Cur Mix Puppies

Take a moment to get to know Acadia, Denali and Sierra, three pups who traveled all the way to Tinley from Kentucky for a chance at life.

These three ladies are an absolute bundle of energy—a very cute, soft bundle.

Now 8 weeks old, Acadia, Denali and Sierra came to on Aug. 6, when they were still too young to be adopted. Their mountain cur mother, Fortune, is also at the shelter looking for a home.

Sierra is the lone black and brown pup in the bunch and Denali is the tan pooch with the white stripe on her nose. Acadia is a bit lighter in color than Denali. A fourth puppy from the same litter has already been adopted. Despite their differences, all three puppies that remain are equally sweet.

The group came all the way to from Kentucky, where a family didn’t have room for them. Shelter volunteers said they were about to be put to sleep.

Though they’re not certain, volunteers said they believe the dogs’ father was a labrador. Each puppy weighs between 8 and 10 pounds, but they will likely grow to around 60 pounds each.

The three — they’ve all been spayed — will remain in foster care until they find a loving home.
