Tinley Army Specialist Gets a Warm Welcome Home
The Patriot Guard Riders and residents of Tinley Park escorted Marcus Torres home in style Saturday afternoon.
After spending nearly a year in Iraq, U.S. Army SPC. Marcus Torres came home Saturday to a swarm of Tinley residents who were eager to show their appreciation for his service to the country.
Torres, 23, graduated from boot camp at Fort Knox in October of 2009 and thereafter completed Stryker training. He plans to make the military his career, he said.
About two weeks before his wedding, Torres was escorted home Saturday by community members and those of the Patriot Guard Riders. His family picked him up from O’Hare and on their way home, stopped off at Target on 191st Street in Tinley Park where the surprise gathering was waiting.
