Wanted: Chefs for Frankfort Amateur Rib Cook-off

Deadline to enter is July 18.

Local chefs with a knack for serving up a good rack of ribs are invited to try their luck at this year's Amateur Rib Cook-off.

The Village of Frankfort teams up with the Frankfort Area Jaycees to host the August 2 event, which will be held at Breidert Green.  The contestants will prepare and cook the baby back ribs on-site.  Contestants will be allowed to set up their designated area from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on the day of the event.  Each contestant will receive 15 slabs of ribs from the Jaycees on the day of the event to begin their preparation.

The fee to enter the competition is $75 until June 30, and increases to $100 after that date. The fee includes the price of the meat. The deadline to enter is July 18, however, based on last year’s success, many participants have already signed up for the event.
