Why: Egg hunts are tricker -- and a lot more fun -- by flashlight. The event is held rain or shine, it's free and you get to meet the Easter Bunny! Bring your own flashlights. Call 708-342-4200.

Doggie Easter Egg HuntWhere/When: at 10 a.m. (registration starts at 9:30)
Why: Why should humans have all the fun? More than 3,000 eggs will be hidden, each with a prize for you and your dog. Dogs must be on a leash, no aggressive dogs, up-to-date rabies certificates are required. Check out the PAWS website for more details. Call 815-464-7298.
Pricing: $10 donation per dog
Where/When: The Log Cabin Center for the Arts, 12700 Southwest Hwy, Palos Park, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Why: In preparation for Easter, families with children of any age, are invited to an afternoon of egg-themed art projects. Each family should bring a dozen hard-boiled eggs to dye.
