Orland Township's "Dancing with the Senior Stars" Scholarship Fundraiser Dance Tryout

In the style of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars”, the Orland Township Scholarship Foundation, in conjunction with the Orland Township Senior Services department, is hosting “Dancing with the Senior Stars”, a dinner dance competition and fundraiser. The event will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Georgios Banquets, 8800 W. 159th Street.

Prior to the dinner dance and competition, Orland Township is hosting dance tryouts in the Orland Township Activity Center, 14807 S. Ravinia Avenue, on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.; three professional dancers will judge participants based on performance. The top ten couples will move on to compete at Georgios.

The final competition will include dinner, dessert and entertainment by Mr. and Mrs. “O”, who will also accompany the competitors in a variety of musical styles, including polka, swing, jitterbug, foxtrot, waltz, tango, cha-cha, rumba and freestyle. Non-competitors will have the opportunity to vote on the performances, as well as have their own time to dance, while scores are tabulated. The winning couple will be awarded a mirror ball trophy and prizes will also be awarded to the second and third place winners.
