Business Comings & Goings: Mexican Restaurant Adds 2nd Location in Tinley Park

Los 3 Burritos, a Mexican restaurant that was once part of the Burrito Loco chain, has opened a second location in Tinley Park at 7108 W. 171st St.

It is the fourth location for Los 3 Burritos, which is based in Diamond, Ill., and has another location in Streator.

The original Tinley location is at 8005 W. 183rd St. and is a full service restaurant with a liquor license. The second location has a couple of tables but is basically intended to be a take-out or delivery burrito joint.

A manager at the 183rd Street location said the owner would like to open even more locations in the southwest suburbs.

The new location is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

The location has seen its share of restaurants over the years including a gyros eatery and a Middle Eastern cuisine restaurant.

Orland OKs Thai Restaurant

Orland Park officials recently approved a special use permit to allow Indra’s Thai Restaurant to open at 15880 S. Wolf Road in the County West Plaza Shopping Center.

The new 2,200-square-foot restaurant will be a full service eatery with patron seating, carry out and delivery options. It will be in the former Chicago Taste Gyros location.

The owner will be Thai native Chaiyut Puangkham.

The restaurant is expected to open this summer.

Orland approves tax sharing for Mercedes Benz

Village officials this month signed off on a sales tax sharing agreement with Mercedes Benz of Orland Park, 8470 W. 159th St., which is adding Smart Car and Mercedes Benz Commercial Van franchises to the dealership.

The agreement calls for the village and the dealership to split annual tax revenues over and above $264,532 per year for the next five years up to a maximum of $574,424. The deal can be extended for five more years if the $574,424 cap is not reached in the first five years.

The dealership is expected to spend upwards of $1 million to make room for the new franchises.

The new franchises must be up and running by April 30, according to the agreement.

Tinley expected to OK Golden Corral incentives

Tinley officials are expected this week to approve fee reductions, sales tax sharing and a property tax break for the Golden Corral buffet restaurant planned for 6803 W. 159th St.

Trustees are expected on Tuesday to approve cutting village fees in half up to $14,000 for the developer, Bhavin Patel, as well as approve splitting sales taxes over and above $50,000 per year for the next 10 years and agree to a Class 8 designation for the property in front of Menards that would reduce its property tax assessed value from 25 percent to 10 percent for the next 10 years.

Patel has proposed building an 11,100-square-foot Golden Corral at an estimated cost of $3.5 million. The restaurant would create an estimated 100 jobs.

Grassano’s Pizza closes in Homer

The recent and unexpected closing of Grassano’s Pizza at 14318 S. Will Cook Road in Homer Glen caught everyone off guard including family members who operate the original location in Oak Lawn.

“So sorry about that,” Grassano’s wrote on its Facebook page. “This one was owned and operated by other family members. I'm so very sorry they didn't notify their customers. And you're right to be upset about that. You're not the only one.”

The owners of the Oak Lawn location and said there are no plans to reopen the Homer Glen location.

Marquette Bank to host chambers

Marquette Bank, 7560 W. 159th St. in Orland Park, will host a Business after Hours for the Tinley Park and Orland Park chambers of commerce from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20. Refreshments will be provided by Ed & Joe’s restaurant in Tinley Park.

Orland to auction off chefs

Imagine being able to sample the signature dishes from the Southland’s finest chefs all in one place.

On Thursday, Feb. 21, the Village of Orland Park will hold its 13th annual Chefs’ Auction at the Orland Chateau, 14500 S. LaGrange Road, to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Breast Cancer Research Program.

“Over the last 12 years, Orland Park has raised more than $150,000 for the American Cancer Society’s Breast Cancer Research Program,” said Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin. “The Chefs’ Auction is a great event for a worthy cause and it sells out every year. We encourage everyone to buy their tickets early because it fills fast.”

Restaurants donating their chefs’ services and auction packages include Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants, Rock Bottom Brewery & Restaurant, Robert Morris University Culinary Arts Program, Great Harvest Bread Company, Baker’s Square, PF Chang’s China Bistro, Mimi’s Café, Fox’s Orland Park, Papa Joe’s, Flavor Restaurant and Jenny’s Steak House. Bloomingfield’s Florist is donating long stem roses that will be presented to cancer survivors.

Tickets are $55 per person or $90 per couple. They may be purchased at Orland Park’s Recreation Administration Building, 14600 S. Ravinia Ave. or at the Sportsplex, 11351 W. 159th St.
