Business Comings & Goings: Plass Appliance Loses Lease in Tinley Park

A look at new businesses coming into town and a fond farewell to those that have, for whatever reason, called it quits.

Plass Appliance and Furniture is in the midst of a lost-its-lease moving sale at its store at 9501 W. 171st St.

A store spokesman said everything in the store has been marked down and inventory includes washers, dryers, refrigerators, microwaves and dishwashers. The store opened locally about a decade ago.

Its spokesman said the company’s remaining five locations will remain open as usual after the Tinley branch closes.

Special Recreation Coordinator Honored

Tinley Park-based South Suburban Special Recreation Association's public relations coordinator Anna Broccolo received the Directors Award in January from the Illinois Therapeutic Recreation Section.

ITRS Director Peter Pope recognized Broccolo for her efforts in spearheading and co-leading the new Marketing Division of the section.

During 2011, marketing and public relations professionals from the special recreation associations joined together to support the statewide efforts of therapeutic recreation professionals, in spreading the word about our services. Broccolo was instrumental in creating a full-page color ad for Chicago Special Parent magazine, and in creating marketing materials for an upcoming Therapeutic Recreation Month throughout Illinois.
