Comings & Goings: Rosati’s Closes, Local Couple Opens Bakery

Also, the Midwestern pole dancing competition returns to the Tinley Park Convention Center this coming weekend and Pure Core Nutrition opens in Orland Park.

Back in Tinley

The and Convention is coming this weekend to the .

It will be the second year the center will host the pole dancing competition, which is sanctioned by the Pole Fitness Association and Pole Dance and Fitness Association. The convention begins at 9 a.m. Friday and runs through Sunday afternoon.

Tinley Names New Water Superintendent

Tim Morris was appointed Tinley Park water superintendent on Aug. 7 to replace . Morris was selected from more than 50 applicants for the position. He comes from the Illinois American Water Co. and had worked for the Village of Manhattan from 2005-2007.

Chamber can Cheer for ThunderBolts

The Windy City ThunderBolts baseball team in Crestwood has a deal for members.

Present a business card at the box office to receive two free tickets on Tuesday, Aug. 21, or Wednesday, Aug. 22, to see the T-Bolts take on the Gateway Grizzlies. Both games start at 7 p.m.

Hosts St. Jude Challenge

Orland Park-based Charter Fitness is hosting the St. Jude Fitness Challenge through Sept. 28 at participating locations.  The eight-week event challenges Charter Fitness members to reach their fitness goals while helping raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to find new treatments for children with cancer and other serious illnesses.

Charter Fitness members can set their goals for weight loss, time worked-out, miles ran or walked or weight lifted over the eight-week period. Friends and family can monitor the member's progress on-line and pledge a monetary donation for each fitness milestone reached.

, 14810 S. LaGrange Road in Orland Park, is holding its annual Spirit of America Car Show and Movie Drive-In on Saturday, Aug. 25.

Car registration and check-in begins at 5 p.m. and the show is open to the public at 6 p.m.

T-shirts, sno-cones and food will be available. Trophies will be awarded. All proceeds will benefit the Orland Park Food Pantry.
