Business Comings & Goings: Ross Dress for Less Coming to Tinley Park

Salon superstore leasing space in Orland Park • New kids store to open soon in Brookside Marketplace • Firehouse Subs coming to Lakeview Plaza • Subway opens new location in Park Hill Towne Center.

Ross Dress for Less, a California-based off-price retailer, will be opening a new store next year at Brookside Marketplace in Tinley Park.

The 23,344-square-foot store will be built on vacant land between the Best Buy parking lot and a retail strip that houses Sally Beauty Supply, Massage Envy, CiCi Nails and Performance Dental. Construction is expected to start in the spring with an opening later in the year.

The retailer, who entered the Chicago market slightly more than a year ago, has 21 locations in northern Illinois including Southland stores in Orland Park, Bolingbrook, Calumet City and Matteson.

“We started in California and are working are way east,” said Mary Walter, senior vice president of stores. “Customers in Chicago will respond to our great products at great prices.”

Walter said Ross typically offers a wide selection of brand name merchandise for 20-60 percent less than at department stores. Stores typically feature a mix of clothes, shoes, seasonal decorations, toys and home décor.

Walter said Ross hires about 50 associates at each store and has more than 1,000 stores in 27 states.

Kids Store Opens in Tinley

Kids Under 10, a new discount store concept being tested by Gymboree, opened recently next to Dick’s Sporting Goods at Brookside Marketplace in Tinley Park.

The store is relatively small at 2,085 square feet and features fashions for boys and girls 10 and younger from Crazy 8, another Gymboree store, but priced at $12.99 or lower.

Sass Salons Now Leasing

Sass Salons and Suites, which has converted the former Amcore Bank building at 16057 S. LaGrange Road in Orland Park into a one-stop salon stop, is now leasing space to hair salons, day spas, tanning salons and other similar services.

Sass, which is now leasing space in a similar building in Naperville and has its original location in Woodridge, purchased the 5,928-square-foot building for $810,000.

Subway Opens in Tinley Park

A new Subway sandwich shop opened a few weeks ago at 9501 W. 171st St. in Tinley Park’s Park Hill Towne Center shopping center. The owner is Ashok Patel.

Firehouse Subs Coming to Orland Park
