Comings & Goings: Sears Opens Scrubology Store

Sears has opened a Scrubology branch inside of the retailer’s anchor store at in Orland Park.

Scrubology stores specialize in work apparel and uniforms for professionals in the industrial, service and health care fields.

The retailer now has 91 Scrubology stores in Sears and Kmart stores nationwide, including the store at Chicago Ridge Mall.

Hand Car Washes at

Montego Bay Car Wash at 7130 W. 171st St. in is now offering hand car washes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Mattress Stores Open in Orland

Two new mattress stores opened recently in Orland Park.

Discount Mattress USA opened at 14700 S. LaGrange Road and Chicago Mattress Outlet opened at 15567 S. 94th Avenue.

Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-A

in Orland Park is again offering free meals to customers of all ages who dress up like a cow on Friday, July 13. You can find detailed plans for cow costumes and other information at Cow Appreciation Day.

Tinley Hosts

Oak Park Avenue will resemble Margaritaville from noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, when the annual Caribbean Beach Block Party takes over downtown Tinley Park.

The popular event offers live music on two stages, activities for the whole family, a mini-Taste of Tinley Park and much more.

Tinley Chamber Tees Off

The will hold its annual golf outing on Wednesday, July 18, at 8 a.m. at the in Tinley Park. Golf begins with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.

Cost is $125 per golfer for 18 holes of golf, cart, continental breakfast prior to start, complimentary beverages and lunch on the course and dinner buffet with open bar. Dinner only tickets are $40 per person.

Super Duper Mini Chefs

Kids will learn the fun side of food through hands-on activities at a free Super Duper Mini Chefs event at Orland Square Mall from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 14, in the upper level Carson’s Court.

Sparkle Singing Challenge at Orland Square 

Amateur singers from 13-40 can win $500 cash and a $25 gift card at the Sparkle Singing Challenge at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at Orland Square Mall.

Amateurs will sing a 60-second acapella version of “Celebrate” or “Something He Can Feel.”

The winner also will get the chance to compete for the grand prize: a trip to New York, an appearance on BET’s 106 & Park, a MySpace feature and a chance to record a song with the Punch Monkeys.
