Business Comings & Goings: Terry’s Lincoln to Close Feb. 1

The Lincolns are already gone and Terry’s Lincoln will disappear from Orland Park on Feb. 1.

The dealership at 9401 W. 143rd St. is holding a liquidation sale as it prepares to call it quits at the end of the month.

Forget about a deal on a new Lincoln, the cars and parts moved over to Joe Rizza’s dealership at 8100 W. 159th St. earlier this month when he added the Lincoln franchise to his stable of car brands at his Orland Park location.

Terry’s still has some used Lincolns as well as a well-stocked inventory of other used cars that it hopes to move out this week.

“Anything that doesn’t sell will move to the Terry’s Ford dealership in Peotone,” said a salesman who asked to remain anonymous.

“Some of the sales staff will move there, too,” he said.

The site was purchased last year by the owners of Pete’s Fresh Market, who plan to build a new 80,000-square-foot grocery store at the site.

“We’re not sure if the store will be built this year or next year,” said Pete’s spokesman Charlie Poulakis.

Johnny’s Char-House closes

Call it the curse of the Canoe Club. Johnny’s Char-House, which opened in August 2011 in the former Canoe Club at 15200 S. 94th Avenue in Orland Park, closed without warning right after New Year’s.

Readers said they saw equipment being moved out of the restaurant last week. Calls to its owner Jonathan Mantas, Orland Park village officials and the building’s owner Inland Real Estate were not returned.

Anyone who has a gift card to the restaurant might try redeeming it at one of Mantas’ other restaurants. He owns Kingsberry restaurants in Oak Forest and Flossmoor.

Fannie May outlet store opens in Tinley

A Fannie May outlet store opened last month in the former Bud's Sports Bar in the Park Center Plaza at 159th Street and Harlem Avenue in Tinley Park.

“We carry overstocked items from Fannie May stores at discounted prices,” said sales associate Justin Benoit. “We have a three-pound box of Pixies for $19.99 that regularly sells for more than $100.”

The store is 10,500 square feet, which is considerably larger than most Fannie May retail stores, Benoit said.

The store has been a seasonal Halloween shop for the past several years. For hours and information, call the store at 708-429-0685.

Carm’s Beef closes

Carm’s Beef, which opened a year ago at 17801 S. Oak Park Ave. in Tinley Park, closed recently. A sign on the front door cites “a lack of support” for the decision to close.

The Tinley location was owned by Mick Nebren, whose grandmother opened the original Carm’s in 1947 at Cicero Avenue and what would become the Eisenhower Expressway.

Parmesans to open today

Parmesans Station is expected to open at 5 a.m. today as the new food vendor for the 80th Avenue Metra station in Tinley Park.

The restaurant was unanimously approved last week as the new food vendor replacing Diana’s Kitchen, which had been offering breakfast items to morning commuters since October.

“We’re going to phase in our menu and operations over the next six months,” co-owner Michael Panandrea said. “First, we’ll be a bagel shop for the commuters. Everything will be baked by us in the morning; bagels, cinnamon buns, muffins. We’ll be a grab and go for the morning commuters. Then we’ll turn it into a restaurant.

The agreement calls for a base rent of $1,100 a month and a small percentage of the gross sales to the village. The agreement would last five years.

Inland sells building for $4.1 million

An affiliate of American Realty Capital has purchased a 12,000-square-foot office building at 8811 W. 159th St. in Orland Hills from a venture of Inland American Real Estate Trust Inc. for $4.1 million.

Citizens Financial Group leases about 9,600 square feet of the building for a Charter One bank. Oak Brook-based Inland American purchased the property for $4.7 million in June 2007.

Smith Crossing grand opening

Smith Crossing will hold its phase two expansion grand opening from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 104th Avenue and 183rd Street. Orland Mayor Dan McLaughlin is scheduled to help open the newest phase for the continuing care retirement community. Refreshments and tours will be available. RSVP to 708-326-2308.

American Family Insurance, 10600 W. 143rd St. Suite 4 in Orland Park, will host its third annual Super Bowl Business after Hours from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31.
