Job Hunters: Who's Hiring in Tinley Park? (Nov. 14)

After being preempted last week for the election, our employment feature returns with a vengeance. Listings include openings for a graphic arts instructor, stylist, executive assistant, customer service rep and teller.

Finding a job can be a tough task. Putting together a résumé, hitting the streets looking for “Help Wanted” signs and making the best impression on potential employers can be a tall order for anyone. Illinois Institute of Art—Tinley Park: The school is looking for a full-time faculty member to teach graphic arts courses. Candidates should have a master's degree in graphic design or MFA in a related field and one to three years of experience as an instructor. Speedway (80th Avenue location): Job responsibilities include helping customers with purchases and keeping the store "looking terrific." Applicants must have good communication skills, be willing to work weekends, evenings and holidays, and be able to perform some strenuous physical activities that involve repeated bending and heavy lifting. Company is looking for someone to provide administrative support to senior management and staff. Some of the duties include:

  • answering phone calls and handling messages
  • maintaining calendars and schedules
  • making travel arrangements for management and staff
  • prepare monthly expense reports
  • create general correspondences, memos, charts, tables, graphs, business plans and other documents

Qualified applicants should have a high school diploma (or equivalent), one- to three-years' administrative experience and proficiency in programs in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Go to the company's website for more information and to apply.

American Chartered Bank: This position's responsibilities combine those of a bank teller and retail bank associate. Candidates must have at least two or more years of banking experience (tellering or personal banking duties) and be willing to work on a flexible schedule that includes rotating Saturdays. Premier Princess Parties: This party planner based in Palatine is expanding and looking to hire performers to portray Disney-based characters for the princess parties it organizes. Some of the qualifications candidates should have include:

  • strongly resemble a Disney princess, prince or pirate
  • work experience with kids
  • know how to do own hair and makeup
  • access to a vehicle
  • a positive attitude
  • weekend availability

Other optional qualities for candidates include:

  • the ability to do face-painting
  • knowing fun traits like balloon twisting
  • being acrobatic or trained in karate or other martial arts (adding on super hero characters in the near future)

  • knowing a foreign language and/or sign language
