Sweet Dreams Cakes has been open since August in Frankfort, but the new sweet shop was officially welcomed by the village chamber of commerce with a ribbon cutting.

The Frankfort Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting for new local business Sweet Dreams Cakes at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3.

“We’re thrilled to have the new business in town,” said Karen Blake, executive director for the chamber. “It’s a great addition.”

The bakery, which opened in August at 7956 W. Lincoln Hwy., in Frankfort, is a family affair. Sweet Dreams is owned by Tinley Park husband and wife team Deon and Vicki O’Bryant, and is staffed by their friends and family, including their three daughters, Candace, Gabrielle and Caprice.

“It’s awesome,” said Vicki. “I just want to let people know we are here.”

According to O’Bryant, Sweet Dreams is special because of the sheer variety the bakery offers. O’Bryant specifically cited the popularity of its pastries, such as cupcakes and cheesecakes.
