Tinley Park Jewel-Osco Deli Closed Temporarily after Salmonella Scare

The deli was closed briefly, but reopened later the same day, officials said.

The deli inside Jewel-Osco, 17117 Harlem Ave. in Tinley Park, was closed briefly Wednesday after county officials alerted store management to concerns of salmonella in its products. Nine people reportedly fell ill after consumption of some of the store's products.

Staff shut down the deli, removed products, cleaned and sanitized all surfaces after notification from the Cook County Department of Public Health. The deli then reopened around 4 p.m.

All items were discarded, "just out of precautionary measure," said Allison Sperling, media relations for Jewel-Osco.

The deli is back to business as usual Thursday.

Any customer concerned about a product purchased at the Tinley Park location that would like to return it for a replacement or refund, may visit any Jewel-Osco store for assistance.
