T.J. Maxx to Give $10,000 in Honor of Lane Bryant Shooting Victims
The national retailer opens Nov. 7 in its new location in Brookside Marketplace in Tinley Park. The store moves into the former home of Lane Bryant, where five women were killed in 2008.
T.J. Maxx will open Nov. 7 in its new 23,000-square-foot home in Brookside Marketplace, in the building that formerly housed a Lane Bryant store where five women were killed in 2008.
As part of its grand opening, the company announced it will donate $10,000 to Tinley Park charity Together We Cope, in memory of victims Connie R. Woolfolk of Flossmoor; Sarah T. Szafranski of Oak Forest; Carrie Hudek Chiuso of Frankfort, Rhoda McFarland of Joliet, and Jennifer L. Bishop, 34, of South Bend, Ind.
The store is relocating from its current Tinley Park home, at 16025 S. Harlem Ave. to its space near the intersection of 191st and Harlem Avenue. Customers are invited to get the first look at the new location, open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Nov. 7.
TJX Cos., which owns T.J. Maxx, also operates a HomeGoods store at Brookside Marketplace. T.J. Maxx boasts a selection of 16,000 brands in clothing, accessories, home decor, beauty items, pet accessories, toys and more.
The fresh name will be a welcome addition to a part of Brookside that has struggled since a gunman shot and killed the five women during a robbery gone awry Feb. 2, 2008. The gunman is still at large.
