Village Videos: Actor Covers SafeAuto Jingle; Waitress Creates Own Pizza Rap
Patch spotlights videos that give you a different look at the community, past and present. This week spotlights advertising music as a Tinley actor jazzes up a car insurance theme, and a waitress freestyles about Boston's Gourmet Pizza.
Village Videos features videos from Patch, from around the web and from readers that showcase Tinley Park and its residents. Want your video featured? Upload it to our Neighborhood Gallery and email me at joev@patch.com to say you want to see it in Village Videos.
Too bad American Idol—or The Voice or The X-Factor or America's Got Talent or Law & Order: SVU—doesn't have a special category for jingles and songs about commercial products and services.
If that was the case, Tinley Park residents would clean house. Don't think so? Just check out these two videos:

- Video #1: Professional Tinley Park actor and singer Marlon Washington creates the best remix of the Safe Auto jingle. OK, he's also created the only remix of the SafeAuto Insurance jingle. It was for a contest held by the auto insurance company (unfortunately, he didn't win), and Washington not only jazzed up the by-the-numbers sales pitch, he added his own lyrics. Next, he needs to remix Adele's "Rolling in the Deep." (Go to Washington's website to learn more about this local performer.)
- Video #2: This unidentified waitress at the Tinley Park location of Boston's Gourmet Pizza freestyles about her employer. We apologize for the sideways nature of the footage. That's how it was recorded.
We need to get these two together and have a jingle off. They need to perform the Empire Carpet theme—the ad world's equivalent of an acoustic cover of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin' "—and we need to have readers pick the winner.
