What Will You Do If Tinley Park's Applebee's Closes?

The Tinley Park Applebee's restaurant is one of at least eight in the Chicago area that could be closing its doors thanks to bankruptcy reorganization of its franchisee in Kentucky, the Chicago Tribune reports.
AppleIllinois, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy April 22 in Kentucky, is selling its franchise rights and restaurants as part of its reorganization, the report stated. The company owns 33 restaurants in the Chicago area and hopes to sell the rights for most of them to other franchisees, the report continued.

The Tinley Park Applebee's manager could not comment on the possibility of the location closing, and a spokesman from AppleIllinois did not return a message left for him.
Of the eight locations to be closed, two others—Mokena and Homewood—are in the south suburbs along with Tinley Park, the report stated. Because of the possibility of mass layoffs, state law requires AppleIllinois to inform all 33 of its restaurants, which it has, the report continued.
