Theatre of Illusion Comes to Lincoln-Way

Modern day Houdinis Kevin and Cindy Spencer are bringing their elaborate stage illusions and dazzling special effects to Lincoln-Way for a one-night-only performance.

“You won’t believe your eyes in this hip, 21st century magical concert for the eyes,” said Denise Adducci, performing arts coordinator for Lincoln-Way High School District 210. “Not content to simply levitate, transform or seemingly evaporate people and objects, the Spencers add a new art to illusion.”

The husband and wife duo, who have been described as “modern day Houdinis,” are performing at Lincoln-Way Central  High School in conjunction with the district’s popular Spotlight Series, which brings professional, world-class artists to the area at reasonable prices.

Past performances have included American English, the Chinese Golden Dragon Acrobats, The Von Trapp Children and  Let’s Hang On!, America’s premier tribute show to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

The Spencer’s Theatre of Illusion show combines drama, comedy, romance and suspense with elaborate stage illusions and dazzling special effects.

“Don’t look for the stereotypical top hat and black cape of an old-time magician,” wrote a critic from the Dallas Morning News. “The Spencers are young, attractive and hip 21st-century entertainers.”

“The Spencers have taken the art of illusion to an entirely new level,” wrote the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

The illusionists have been named Performing Arts Entertainers of the Year a record-breaking six consecutive times and International Magicians of the Year, joining the ranks of David Copperfield.

This powerful two-hour theatrical experience begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27 in the Performing Arts Center (Door #7A) of . The box office opens at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $20 and $15 for youths and senior citizens with general admission seating.
