“D146 Gets Fit” 3rd Annual Fun Walk!

School District's Wellness Initiative "D146 Gets Fit" held its 3rd Annual Fun Walk at Central Middle School on Saturday, Nov 10th. It was another huge success! Kudos to the Wellness Committee!

Did you make it out?  If so, it was a wonderful family-time event, wasn’t it?  If you could not be there, hopefully you will be there next year, and won’t have to miss the fun again!

It was another awesome turnout of participants at the “D146 Gets Fit” Fun Walk!  The efforts of the “D146 Gets Fit” Committee were definitely appreciated.  The people that attended seemed to truly enjoy walking on such a warm day, and the company of those around.  Participants were teachers, staff members, families of D146, Board of Education members, and Superintendent Dr. Stawick and his family.  Even Tinley Park’s Mayor Zabrocki laced up his walking shoes for some laps around Central!!

Families could be seen in the grassy areas tossing footballs, playing with hula hoops and other activities to keep the crowds moving.  Lots of laughs and lots of people always equals a good time.

Thank you to the Fun Walk sponsors, also.  “D146 Gets Fit” would also like to spotlight the following companies for their generous donations:

  • Walt’s Foods
  • Bettenhausen Automotive
  • Jewel-Osco
  • Orland Bowl
  • Charter Fitness

Without their generosity to the D146 community, the Fun Walk would not be as great as it was.

Hope to see you all next year!  Remember to wear your walking shoes and walk for your health, and to keep looking through the www.district146.org website (and your school newsletters) for more “D146 Get Fits” tips and ideas!!
