D146's Fierke Education Center Choir Spreads Some Holiday Cheer!

School District 146's Fierke Education Center in Oak Forest, IL recently visited two retirement communities to spread some Holiday Cheer!

Buddy the Elf said it best, "The best way to spread Christmas Cheer is singing loud for all to hear!"  And that is just what a group of 4th and 5th graders from Fierke Education Center in Oak Forest, IL recently did when they visited both Tinley Court Retirement Community in Tinley Park and Emeritus in Orland Park.

Students in the school's choir were accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Hill, the school's music teacher. Fierke students mingled and song sheets were given out to residents to join in on the Holiday spirit. Residents were very happy to hear the young students singing for them, and to interact with them thru song. Smiles were everywhere and joy certainly filled the rooms of both places visited. Fierke Education Center Principal, Mr. Mark French, even made a surprise appearance and joined in on the festivities.  It was  joyous event, one that Mrs. Hill has been arranging for several years.

A Tinley Court resident was overheard saying to another resident, "I love when the kids come to see us and sing. It's so much fun!" Afterwards, students were treated to some cookies and punch and a chance to mingle more with the residents.
