Four Central Middle School Students Receive Awards From Governors State University Office of Economic Education

Four students from CCSD146 were chosen as regional winners in the GSU Office of Economic Education's Economic Poster Contest. This contest is held annually & open to Illinois students grades 1st-8th.

The Office of Economic Education, a division of GSU (Governors State University), held its annual Economics Poster Contest.  Four students from School District 146’s Central Middle School were chosen as 2013 Regional Award Winners based on their colorful and well-stated poster submissions on the subject of economics.  Congratulations to Illinois Regional Winners:

First place:  Paige S.

Second Place:  Sara A. and Melissa R.

Third Place:  Nicole T.

Each student received a congratulatory letter and invitation to attend a reception at GSU honoring those chosen for this year’s contest.  The reception will be held in May, and each of the first and second place winners will receive a Visa gift card.  All winners will receive a certificate and a book about money.

The annual poster contest is open to all Illinois school students in grades 1-8.  Students each year are asked to submit a colorful poster illustrating one of one of these six economics concepts: 

  • Scarcity
  • Opportunity Cost
  • Goods and Services (must show both on one poster)
  • Specialization
  • Producers and Consumers (must show both on one poster)
  • Productive Resources
