D146 Announces New Before/After School Program Partnership

At the Nov 12th Board of Education meeting, D146’s Administrative Council announced a before/after school care partnership with Ivy League for the families of students in the District. It will start when school reconvenes from winter break in January 2014.

The program will offer child care to students in grades PreK-5, and offer homework assistance during care time. Hours of operation will be 6:30am until the start of school and the end of school until 6:30pm. All four elementary schools will be participating in the program.

Nancy Schwab, Director of Curriculum said, “We are very pleased to offer this program to our families. The Ivy League care program will be offered on days that school is in session, and ideally will include one hour of P.E. as well as enrichment and homework help. We understand that many of our family’s households consist of two working parents. Our hope is that by implementing this new program it will help to provide a solution for their student’s before and after school care needs.”
